On May 3, a new passenger terminal B starts operating at the Moscow Sheremetyevo airport. The first flight from it will be carried out by Aeroflot.

Terminal B with a capacity of 20 million passengers per year (4.1 thousand passengers per hour) is put into operation in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. During the mundial fan zones will be organized all terminals of Sheremetyevo airport, where passengers can watch the games. It will become the first part of the Northern Terminal Complex (NTK) of the airport.

The total area of the new terminal building is 109,713 square meters.

Terminal B has two business lounges with 400 seats each as well as 1.6 thousand square meters VIP lounge, reports "RIA Novosti."

Also, the commissioning of new terminal and new automated system of passenger and baggage self check- in system installed by “Zamar” company will increase the terminal's capacity to 4.8 thousand passengers and baggage per hour.

In addition to this , Terminal B is planned to be equipped with iBeacon system for online navigation of passengers inside the airport.

Terminal B will be focused on domestic flights.

On April 28 it was reported that Aeroflot will begin staged transfer of flights to the new terminal B starting May 3. The first part of the transfer of 23 domestic flights is scheduled to be completed before June 1, 2018.
