The DSM border control module is intended for passport control officials.
With the launch of electronic boarding passes, it becomes difficult to check the passenger’s itinerary. The DSM INT module decodes and displays the passenger’s entire route, along with their personal ID data. The module allows officials to see which destinations this particular traveler is allowed to visit, thus completely eliminating the risk of unauthorized border crossing. For example, when going through passport control, a traveler may present a boarding pass to Flight A to a country that they are allowed to enter, but will actually attempt to board Flight B to another country, which they are not allowed to enter. But as all of the system modules are interconnected, DSM GATE will not allow the traveler to board Flight B, because they have not passed the DSM INT checkpoint (i.e. passport control) for this flight.
